Vakantie in de Auvergne

This former railroad hotel is situated at the top of the 100 years old bridge, the famous Viaduc des Fades, in the small community Les Fades. It is situated very peacefully between the villages St. Gervais d’Auvergne and Les Ancizes, a short journey from the region's capital Clermont-Ferrand. The tracks of the railway are no longer in use, though there's talk of re-opening the line for touristic use. In the valley below lies an enormous dam and the huge Confolant lake, wich flows into the river La Sioule.

Les Fades is in the heart of the Combrailles, which forms the heart of the Auvergne, in the department Puy the Dôme. A very green regione with numerous rivers en lakes.

In the nearby villages St. Gervais d'Auvergne, Les Ancizes en Manzat are several restaurants and every village has it's tourist information office. Everyday of the week there is a market in one of the viillages.

At about a half hour is one of the highest mountains of the region, the Puy de Dôme. Famous of being the mercyless finish of a etappe from the Tour de France. The top can be reached by foot or by special train. At the top is a vistitors centre, a small museum.
